In Afghanistan, 10% of the population is addicted to drugs.

The country is the first opium producing country in the world.

The Taliban in power since August 15, 2021 claim to want to put an end to drug use.

The fundamentalists even imposed forced detoxification as soon as they took power.

As for production, the discourse is less radical.

Indeed, how to ban drugs in a country where the state coffers are empty and development aid is frozen by the IMF among others?
