A graduation ceremony was held on the 12th at the so-called "night junior high school", a night class at a public junior high school in Nara City, where people who could not receive compulsory education learn, and women who studied for 20 years graduated.

Public night junior high school is set up for those who did not receive compulsory education during the postwar turmoil, and has recently become a place of learning for young people such as school refusals and those from abroad.

The graduation ceremony was held on the 12th at the Nara City Kasuga Junior High School night class, which was established in 1978, which is the oldest of the three public night junior high schools in Nara prefecture.



At the ceremony, Principal Yasushi Sakamoto handed a diploma to six of the eight graduates who attended this year. Congratulations! "

Then, on behalf of the graduates, Tomoko Okuyama (78), an orphan who remains in China and lives in Nara City, said, "I will use what I have learned as a treasure and do my best to review it so that I will not forget it." I did.



Mr. Okuyama said that when she came to Japan from China in 2000, she did not understand Japanese, but she studied at night junior high school for 20 years, became able to read, write and talk, and lived. It means that it became fun.



She said Okuyama happily after her graduation, she said, "I enjoyed studying at this school for 20 years, and I'm grateful."
