From our special correspondent in Lisbon (Portugal)

Let's face it, it's a big disappointment.

Emilie Satt and Jean-Karl Lucas, who form the duo Madame Monsieur, undoubtedly deserved a much better result.

While they were among the bookmakers' favorites to win this 63rd edition of Eurovision, they had to settle for 13th place, among 26 candidates, with 173 points, far behind the 529 points of the Israeli Netta Barzilai who won the crystal trophy.

The French, who moved up to 13th position (a figure which therefore did not bring them luck), performed

Mercy

, a song inspired by the true story of a baby born on

L'Aquarius

, an SOS Méditerranée boat helping shipwrecked refugees.

They placed eighth in the jury votes and seventeenth in the viewers votes.
