Recently, a Weibo netizen posted that the activity of "answering questions and collecting cards to exchange for large members" carried out by station B (Bilibili Danmu.com) seems to allow users to exchange members by selling privacy.

In this regard, the official Weibo of Station B issued an apology on March 13. The information filled in by the users during the event will be handed over to the operator for legal use, not to collect privacy. The misunderstanding caused by the inappropriate wording of the copy has been taken offline and the page has been rectified.

The screenshots of the relevant activities posted by the aforementioned Weibo netizens show that for the activity of answering questions and collecting cards to exchange for large membership, users need to fill in their real name, phone number, ID card, delivery address and other information.

Another screenshot shows that Station B prompts "Please note that after you authorize us to share the above information with the provider ('merchant') of products/services in a specific industry that you see on the browsing interface, you may receive Calls or text messages from the business to provide you with invitations or communication needs for related services”.

Merchants include but are not limited to service providers such as automobiles, education, tourism, and home improvement.

On the afternoon of March 13, the official Weibo of Station B issued an apology, saying that the page was a registration page for the 2233 data card application for cooperation between Station B and the operator of China Unicom, and was not a promotional activity to collect privacy.

The information filled in by the user is the information that must be provided to the operator to apply for a data card, and will be handed over to the operator for legal use.

However, the event copy does have inappropriate wording, which can easily lead to misunderstandings.

They have taken the page offline and rectified it.

Pengpai noticed that after the response from station B, there were still netizens who questioned: "Is this a problem of copywriting? Does changing the copywriting change the essence of selling personal privacy?"

The official Weibo of Station B responded to the question again at the bottom of the netizens’ comments, saying: Station B will not collect, use or transmit any of your personal information without your authorization. The "Bilibili Privacy Policy" and the "Personal Information Authorization and Protection Statement" indicated in this activity protect your personal information and personal privacy.
