The department of Hérault has gone into yellow vigilance for floods.
The Orb and the Hérault, which came out of their beds in the plain on Sunday, were particularly watched.
The river which crosses Béziers rose to 12.43 m on Sunday at 10:30 p.m., a few centimeters from the alert level (12.50 m).
The Orb flood in particular flooded the low plains of Saint-Pierre and Sauclières where several people had to be evacuated.
The two rivers have since been in slow decline, justifying the transition from organ vigilance to yellow vigilance.
“The flooding of the upstream section has spread and led to localized overflows on the downstream Hérault, explains Vigicrues in its bulletin published this Monday morning.
The rains have stopped but the levels continue to rise slowly, leading to flooding of the plains in a major bed.
The maximum level in Agde should be reached on Monday morning.

Two men rescued by firefighters
The Mediterranean episode did not claim any victims.
But two people were rescued by firefighters over the weekend by firefighters.
One stuck inside his vehicle in a meter of water after forcing a dam to enter a flooded road.
The second was swept away by the flood of the Vène, northwest of Montpellier, and miraculously found in his underpants a few kilometers further.
Hypothermic, but safe and sound.
