The Sikka Art and Design Festival, which was launched in 2011 and completed 10 copies, provided the public with a total of 106 days during the days that it opened its doors to them throughout its career, a valuable opportunity to admire the distinctive creative works presented by the participating artists, which numbered Nearly 500 attracted more than 400,000 visitors, and attracted around 37 partners.
In celebration of the successes of its past sessions, the Sikka Art and Design Festival 2022 will present the emirate with creative packages based on visual, theatrical, musical, film and singing arts, under the slogan “We celebrate art, we celebrate prosperity.” The artworks were chosen to form an interesting narration of the fair’s story. Under its new umbrella, the Sikka Art and Design Platform, with its updated visual look inspired by the Sidr tree in the Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood, it will welcome its visitors from March 15 to 24 of this year to tour the neighborhood’s skies and its sides and enjoy a rich program and innovative activities.
The final list of eligible artists to participate includes more than 250 artists and artists participating in the presence and virtual, who will work under the supervision of a team of Emirati curators, including artists Maitha Al Zaffin, Kamilah Al Olama and Shamma Al Muhairi, and with the support of the curator Giuseppe Moscatello, who will contribute to enriching the artistic and aesthetic scene in Dubai. And transforming the Al Fahidi Historical Neighborhood, which will host the festival’s activities, into interactive creative panels with attractive designs.

It is an initiative launched by the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority “Dubai Culture” in 2011. It is held annually under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of the Authority and a member of the Dubai Council. It is considered one of the main events under the umbrella of the “Dubai Art Season”.
The festival is the first annual initiative of its kind that focuses on supporting and displaying the works of Emirati artists residing in the UAE and the GCC region in general.
It also provides an ideal platform to consolidate the concepts of coexistence and cultural diversity that Dubai embodies by embracing more than 200 different nationalities, by linking them through art and creativity.
Over the past 10 editions, the formations of the Sikka Art and Design Festival have added a lively character and an interactive color imprint on the Al Fahidi Historical Neighborhood, whose alleys and rails receive the festival’s activities from which its name was inspired.
Every year, the festival captivates its visitors by blending its activities with the spirit of heritage in the neighborhood and the original designs it displays.
To have a wonderful artistic experience that gives them the opportunity to wander among the traditional barrages that have been transformed into mini art galleries, and within their homes, each of which embraces talented artworks originating from the region and the UAE.
In every corner of Al Fahidi, the visitor will find creative aesthetic elements from different types of arts.
Starting from works of drawing and calligraphy, to 3D paintings, as well as creative audio-visual and performing arts, as well as various entertainment shows, such as concerts, poetry evenings, talk circles and films, in addition to food stalls rich in local and international flavors.
