On February 16 and 17, 2022, Unesco hosted the second Paris Conference of the association
"Islam in the 21st century"
on the theme
"Islam and identities: between worship and cultures".
For two days, about thirty speakers, Islamologists, philosophers, historians, sociologists, anthropologists from both shores of the Mediterranean, promoters of a progressive and open Islam, crossed their work with actors in the field.
How to articulate faith, identity, religion and culture so as not to fall into the trap of confinement and separatism?
How to get out of Islamo-centrism which exalts the primacy of Islam as the last revealed religion?
Why can Islam be a way of “re-qualification” for young people with low self-esteem?
How to value, in Western societies, the quality of social and family ties inherited from Arab-Muslim culture?
These are the themes selected from the numerous communications.
