[Explanation] In order to further ensure the stability of the materials supplied to Hong Kong for land transportation, the Hong Kong SAR Government, the Guangdong Provincial People's Government, and the Shenzhen Municipal People's Government are advancing at full speed to establish a centralized connection for non-fresh food and other goods in Hong Kong. On March 11, The first trial shipment was successfully completed. Four containers loaded with anti-epidemic and anti-epidemic materials arrived at the temporary cargo terminal at Kwai Tsing Container Terminal and Tuen Mun River Trade Terminal respectively. The process was very smooth.

  [Explanation] Chen Fan, Secretary for Transport and Housing, and Yin Zonghua, Deputy Director of the Central Liaison Office in Hong Kong, arrived at the Kwai Tsing Container Terminal for inspection.

The governments of the two places plan to continue to carry out cargo trial shipments until the end of this month to review and adjust the specific arrangements for the centralized connection.

  [Explanation] It is reported that the connection arrangement in Hong Kong is a temporary measure in response to the development of the epidemic in the SAR. Mainland drivers will directly deliver goods to designated connection points in Hong Kong and hand over to Hong Kong truck drivers to reduce the risk of spreading the epidemic between the two places and ensure Land cross-border transportation is smooth.

  [Explanation] The Hong Kong SAR Government once again thanks the central government, the Guangdong Provincial People's Government and the Shenzhen Municipal People's Government for their strong support, and jointly discussed various measures to ensure the stable supply of materials to Hong Kong from the mainland.

He also stated that all government departments will work together to support and cooperate with the cross-border freight industry and front-line staff to actively optimize the operation of cross-border delivery of materials.
