Li Guangxi was born in Tianjin in 1929. He loved music since childhood, and planted a seed of art in his heart since he was a child.

When his father died when he was 17 years old, he worked as a clerk in the mining bureau and took on the burden of supporting his family, while he used his spare time to learn music and sing, and sang almost all theaters in Tianjin.

After becoming a well-known singer, Li Guangxi was shocked by the art of opera again. He then applied for the Central Opera House and was successfully admitted.

Shortly after entering the Central Opera House, Li Guangxi quickly stood out. In 1956, when the opera "La Traviata" premiered, Li Guangxi became famous for playing the hero Alfred, and also won the reputation of "The Prince of Opera".

At the CCTV Spring Festival Gala in 1979, Li Guangxi sang "The Toast Song", which was known as the "first popular golden song" in the late 1970s and early 1980s.

In addition to "Toast Song", Li Guangxi's performances such as "The Sun Comes Out Joyfully", "Ode to Beijing", "Song of Shepherd" and "Ode to Yan'an" have almost all become the golden songs of the times.
