A significant drop in the services concerned.

The number of people admitted to critical care over the past 24 hours due to Covid-19 has dropped by half, according to data from Public Health France published this Saturday.

While these figures had been constant – around 120 daily admissions to intensive care – since the start of the week (119 still on Friday), 57 people were admitted to critical care in the territory for serious forms of the disease.

In total, 1,857 people were still in these services, a figure slightly down (1,875 the day before, 2,075 a week ago).

More than 20,000 people still hospitalized

Two years after the first confinement, new hospitalizations due to the epidemic are also falling sharply, with 577 admissions listed on Saturday (1,099 the day before), whereas they had accelerated since Monday.

A total of 20,860 people are still hospitalized.

In the past 24 hours, 52 deaths have been recorded (almost three times less than the 134 deaths the day before), while the 140,000 death mark was crossed on Friday in hospitals, retirement homes or other medico-social establishments due to infection with Covid-19, two years after the first confinement.

The number of cases is not increasing

Particularly scrutinized two days before the lifting of many restrictions next Monday, starting with the wearing of masks, the number of new positive cases is stable over 24 hours, with 72,443 contaminations (72,399 the day before).

In recent days, however, these cases have resumed an upward trend: the average for the past seven days is more than 63,000, compared to 52,000 last Saturday.

Vaccination is stagnating, with 33,400 injections in the past 24 hours, according to figures from the Directorate General of Health.

In total, 54.25 million people have received at least one injection (80.5% of the total population), 53.32 have a complete vaccination schedule (79.1%) and 39.29 million have received a dose of reminder.
