In Uwajima City, Ehime Prefecture, there was a fire that burned down a house, and two people were found dead from the burnt remains.
Police are confirming that it was the 94-year-old and 89-year-old couple who lived in this house that died.
Before 1:00 am on the 13th, the fire department was notified that the house of Mr. Yasushi Todo (94) in Tsushima-cho, Uwajima City was on fire.
Eight fire trucks and other vehicles went out and the fire was extinguished about three hours later, but one wooden one-story house was completely burned down, and a part of the wall of the adjacent house was also burnt down.
Two people were found dead in the burnt remains of a burnt-down house.
According to police, Mr. Todo and his 89-year-old wife live in this house and have not been contacted after the fire.
The police are investigating the cause of the fire while confirming that it was Mr. and Mrs. Todo who died.
The site is a mountainous area near the Sanzai Dam in the southern part of Uwajima City, and houses are scattered in the fields and rice fields.
