Factor X

by Laurent Le Baube, published on March 11, 2022 by Cara Editions.

His favorite quote:

(…) I ask him the following question: “Do you know why all the soldiers wear the same uniform?

".

Obviously he answers me with a theory without any sense!

My answer is direct: “because if you replace one of the soldiers, no one will notice”.

Total silence!

Why this book?

  • Because without preamble, Laurent Le Baube plunges us

into the intricacies of finance, the trade in precious stones and politics.

The reader is immersed directly in a rescue mission classified as "secret-defense" where the Prime Minister's chief of staff is withholding information.

    Who is playing what?

The BSI, accustomed to confidential missions, finds itself involved in a story where money and power coexist.

  • Because the strength of this story is its rhythm: not a minute's respite,

everything is linked at high speed and Gabriel Saint Régent finds himself faced with more questions than leads.

And we like to see several scenarios looming in the head of the leader of the BSI.

  • Because for once, we perceive weaknesses in Gabriel Saint Régent

but the reader is reassured, they are due to manipulations from outside.

Insolent, man of action, refined, GSR as his team nicknames him, is the worthy successor of James Bond made in France and that's why we love him.

The essentials in 2 minutes

The plot.

A boat is boarded by Somali pirates, the cargo includes sensitive material and a qualified "secret-defense".

That's all it takes for the Prime Minister's Chief of Staff to wake up Saint Regent to deal confidentially with this affair.

Characters.

Gabriel Saint Régent accompanied by his BSI team, the Prime Minister and his Chief of Staff, the financier Rufus Bosa, Eloi the robber, Ngya Balambda who claims to overthrow the government of the DRC.

Places.

Paris, Porto Cevo, Nice, DRC, Angola and Somalia.

The time.

 Current era.

The author.

Laurent Le Baube is a logistician by training and has decided to drop everything to write books of espionage, of actions of which he is fond.

Facteur X

is the sixth adventure of Gabriel Saint Régent.

This book was read

at full speed: the narrative rhythm is breathless, each chapter advances a pawn in a part where it is not very clear where the good guys and the bad guys are.

An excellent episode of the affairs of the BSI and Gabriel Saint Régent.
