Ten years ago, on March 11, 2012, Mohamed Merah shot dead Sergeant Imad Ibn Ziaten in a parking lot in Toulouse before continuing his murderous attacks in Montauban on the 15th, then the 19th at the Jewish school Ozar Hatorah, killing seven people in total, including three children.

On this date loaded with symbols, which since 2019 has become the national day in tribute to the victims of terrorism, Jean-Michel Blanquer presided over a first ceremony in the Pink City, behind the Capitol, in front of the tree of harmony and fraternity.

The Minister of National Education called for the victims to be remembered, “their first names, their faces, their destinies and their shattered dreams”.

"We join in the pain of those who have been brutally deprived of a loved one," he said, accompanied by Roxana Maracineanu, the Minister of Sports.
