Chile is opening a new chapter in its history.

At only 36 years old, Gabriel Boric becomes this Friday (March 11, 2022) the youngest president the country has ever had.

His investiture is in a way the political culmination of the social uprising that shook Chile in 2019. This lawyer and former student leader was one of the leading figures in this vast protest movement against social inequalities.

What will be his priorities as head of state?

What challenges await him?

It also banned same-sex marriage and teaching about sexual diversity.

This toughening of the law, voted on Tuesday March 8, 2022, in full international day for women's rights, caused an outcry.

And yesterday (March 10, 2022), the president of Guatemala finally did an about-face.

In a televised address, he claims to have asked that this law be “set aside”, Christophe Paget will tell us in his press review.
