World Glaucoma Week: where does the research stand?

On the occasion of World Glaucoma Week (held from March 6 to 12, 2022), we are taking stock of this eye disease, responsible for damage to the optic nerve and whose frequency increases with age.

Glaucoma is essentially due to an abnormal rise in intraocular pressure, gradually leading to irreversible and painless loss of vision.

This progressive and insidious condition can remain asymptomatic for 20 years.

The WHO considers glaucoma to be the third leading cause of blindness (15%) worldwide.
