In our Minute Papillon

podcast  !

, we find our Thursday meeting “La Bulle”, which talks about us, about ourselves.

Why embark on the Canadian Appalachians, answer the call of the forest, meet the bear?

Katia Astafieff

,

biologist,

deputy director of the Greater Nancy Botanical Gardens and the University of Lorraine, adventurer and writer, took the plunge.

What is this call of the forest?

The great traveler, inspired by the richness of the world, its fauna and flora, set off before the health crisis on the international Appalachian trail, 650 kilometers on the Canadian side.

She is going to cover, alone for a month, with this backpack which gives her the impression of being “a huge turtle”, about 500 kilometers of this path.

With ups and downs.

She drew from this adventure the testimony

The girl who wanted to see the bear

published by Arthaud, a story in which she recounts, during this great hike, “having lived, lived, lived… The high life!

".

Katia Astafieff is the guest of this episode.

It recounts the appeal of "wild nature", the "wilderness", an American concept of a

magnificent, dangerous, grandiose and terrifying environment.

And of this adventure lived one step after another.
