In 2016, Amy Schumer was cast to write and star in the live-action Barbie doll movie developed by Sony.

Four months later, the comedian and actress announced she was pulling out of the project, citing scheduling issues that made filming impossible.

It turns out, as is often the case in such situations, that the star actually didn't agree at all with the direction the film's production was taking.

She left the project because she couldn't tell the story she was interested in.

"They absolutely didn't want to do it the way I wanted to do it, the only way I was interested in doing it," the star revealed in an interview with

The Hollywood Reporter

, explaining that it was not a problem of time but of "creative differences".

Not the same vibe

In the interview, to underline how far her idea was from that of the production, Amy Schumer also reveals that the script she had written featured an inventive, brilliant and funny Barbie.

But the studio, for its part, wanted the major invention of this brilliant woman to be “a jelly pump”.

Not really the same vibe.

It was when Sony sent her a pair of Manolo Blahnik shoes that Amy Schumer thought they weren't on the same page at all.

“The idea that this is what every woman should want… There, I should have said to myself directly: “You have the wrong girl”, “she confided.

Since then, everything has changed for this

movie , since it is now managed by Warner, who recruited Greta Gerwig to write and direct.

Margot Robbie has been cast as the doll, while Ryan Gosling will play Ken and America Ferrera, Kate McKinnon and Simu Liu will star in supporting roles.

The feature film does not yet have an official release date.
