The new vaccine produced by Novavax to fight Covid-19, Nuvaxovid, is being distributed in the Marne department, the prefecture said.

With its classic technology, it provides 90% protection against symptomatic forms of the disease and total protection against severe forms.

"440 vials of 10 doses are expected this week to complete the department's vaccine supply," said the Marne prefecture in a press release relayed by Le Pays Briard on Wednesday.

A vaccine for the mRNA reluctant

The objective of this vaccine “is to offer vaccination to people reluctant to mRNA vaccines, in particular a significant part of 18-55 year olds who are not yet vaccinated”, she continued.

However, this new vaccine should not replace those with messenger mRNA, which “must continue to be favored in the context of primary vaccination schemes”.

Novavax should be injected in two doses, ideally spaced twenty-one days apart.

Initially, it will only be offered in the Marne vaccination centers and to a few health professionals who will be able to obtain supplies there.
