The very first Catalan sausage world championship will be organized next spring near Perpignan (Pyrénées-Orientales).

The organizers are counting on the date of June 5.

The competition received the support of the departmental union of butchers and delicatessens.

It will take place as part of a great celebration of this culinary specialty, says Actu Perpignan.

A book idea at the origin of the project

This day dedicated to Catalan sausages was imagined by the four founding members of the Catalan Saucisse Club.

The two co-presidents initially intended to write a book on this charcuterie specialty, its history, its producers and the recipes for preparing it.

Their passion finally pushed them to opt for another format for highlighting the dish.

During the world championship, the jury will be made up of the creators of the club, members, charcuterie professionals and the best worker in France, Christian Segui.

The jurors will taste the products of all the competing producers before awarding the world title.
