At a prefectural high school in Ogaki City, Gifu Prefecture, which continues to give handmade picture books to children in the areas affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake, 76 original picture books have been completed.

At Gifu Prefectural Ogaki Higashi High School, we have been making picture books in art classes for about 30 years, and from 11 years before the Great East Japan Earthquake, we donated completed picture books to children in Fukushima Prefecture and visited the site. We are continuing activities such as reading aloud.

This time, 76 first graders learned about the earthquake and thought about the original story, and completed 76 picture books.

Some picture books use buttons and beads to make the child happy, and some books have a three-dimensional picture that pops out when you open the page.

A message to the children was written one by one, and one of the students said, "I'm glad if you feel a little fun. Although it's far from the disaster area, there are people who support it through picture books. I want you to know that you are there. "

Instructor Noriko Kaneda of Gifu Prefectural Ogaki Higashi High School said, "A thank-you note has arrived from the person who read the picture book, and I am telling the students that the picture book is active. I want to go. "

Due to the influence of the new coronavirus, the picture books will not be read aloud locally, and the picture books will be delivered to kindergartens and nursery schools in Fukushima Prefecture after being viewed by new students who inherit the activities.
