In North Rhine-Westphalia, investigators have once again struck a blow against organized drug crime thanks to decrypted EncroChats.

As the police and public prosecutor's office in Krefeld announced on Wednesday, six suspected drug dealers were arrested in a raid last week and twelve kilograms of cocaine worth 600,000 euros, three kilograms of marijuana worth 30,000 euros and significant amounts of cash, gold coins and luxury watches were seized.

The investigations started eight months ago thanks to a tip from France.

In early 2020, together with Dutch criminalists, French authorities succeeded in decoding the conspiratorial EncroChat communication, which was used almost exclusively by serious criminals.

According to the Federal Criminal Police Office, more than 2,250 procedures have been initiated with the help of EncroChats in Germany alone and around 360 existing procedures have been significantly supported.
