Police officers who were the first to arrive at the crime scene in November 2019 gave testimony on Tuesday in the process of stealing millions of baroque jewel sets from the Dresden Green Vault.

The focus was once again on the private security service hired by the State Art Collections to guard the exhibition.

The employees who were still interviewed at the scene of the crime could only have given “very vague information”, said a police officer.

They saw the suspected getaway vehicle drive away, but didn't remember the color, make of the car, or license plate number.

Although security service employees had made a short mobile phone video of the getaway car, only a few taillights can be seen on it.

The security guards said they were afraid of the perpetrators, which is why they hid behind a ledge while filming.

Another police officer then described his encounter with one of the guards in court as follows: "I had to speak to him several times, but he said almost nothing, he knew next to nothing."
