“A feminist surge for equality” in the streets of Paris, this Tuesday.
For International Women's Rights Day, 35,000 people marched, according to the organizers, in the capital between the Gare du Nord and the Tenon hospital.
The demonstrators claimed in particular on placards the fact of not being a “territory of conquest”.
Sophie Binet, in charge of gender equality issues at the CGT, a union member of the collective of 62 organizations at the origin of the demonstration, evokes to AFP a “fed up with feminist washing, blabla”.
On the banners, one could also read slogans against the far right "misogynist, reactionary, liar", or against the failures in the fight against sexual violence "1% of convicted rapists, justice protects the aggressors".
A "femmage" (and not homage) to the victims of feminicides was also planned in the afternoon on the sidelines of the procession, in the form of a "die-in" of several hundred people in front of the Père Lachaise cemetery.
Parades were also scheduled for Tuesday in many other cities in France.
