A new date for the inauguration of the Saint-Denis cable car (Reunion) was communicated this Saturday.
The link that will connect the Bois-de-Nèfles and Chaudron districts will enter into service on March 15, almost three months after the date initially planned.
Initially, the equipment was to welcome its first passengers on December 23, 2021.
Two postponements
The inauguration was then rescheduled in mid-January before a new cancellation, followed by a postponement without specifying the date, recalls La Première.
In question, the safety exercises necessary before the great debut of the first overseas cable car, called Papang, a name inspired by the papangue, a raptor endemic to the island of Reunion.
A simulation organized on December 16 showed that the rescuers needed additional time to be able to intervene on the equipment in the event of an emergency evacuation.
Technical teams from Papang, police and gendarmerie intervention units and firefighters subsequently prepared together and received training.
