The American Vinath Oudomsine was sentenced to three years in prison for the Charizard Pokémon card.

A federal court in southern Georgia has now convicted the 31-year-old of fraud because he invested most of his Corona aid in the card.

According to the Ministry of Justice, Oudomsine had applied for government funding for an alleged entertainment company in the first pandemic summer of 2020.

He said he had 10 employees and made more than $230,000 last year.

The Small Business Authority later sent Oudomsine $85,000 as a Covid-19 loan for economic disasters.

The Dublin collector then bought the Pokémon card for almost $58,000 of the loan.

“Congress provided funds for small businesses struggling with the challenges of the global pandemic.

Like moths to light, that attracted a lot of scammers like Oudomsine,” said the Georgia Attorney.
