On the sidelines of the ongoing war in Ukraine, the positions of the former Soviet republics in Central Asia and the Caucasus are of particular interest.

At the official level, the positions of these countries ranged between neutrality and silence.

However, some voices penetrated the atmosphere of anticipation and anxiety, and leveled sharp criticism of Russia, in a scene it was not familiar with in a region that for centuries was subject to the hegemony of its great neighbor.
