Vitali Klitschko, the mayor of Kyiv, attended the wedding of a female and a male soldier near a checkpoint in Kyiv on Sunday.
He posted a video of the visit on Instagram, writing that the ceremony was celebrated near one of the checkpoints set up at the entrances to Kyiv.
The video shows the couple - she in camouflage, he with a helmet on his head - getting married in front of a large group of journalists, after which Klitschko, holding a bouquet of flowers, slides past the camera crews and congratulates the newlyweds .
The fifty-year-old wrote on Instagram about the video: "Life goes on!
And we will protect the life of Kyiv, the people of Kiev and our state!”
Klitschko also informed his followers in the post that 457 babies were born in the capital's maternity hospitals in the past ten days - "237 boys and 220 girls".
Then he appealed again to the soldiers and residents of Kyiv: “We are defending the capital, our families, our children!
