[Commentary] The fifth wave of the new crown pneumonia epidemic in Hong Kong continues to be severe, and it has also affected many residential care homes for the elderly in 18 districts in Hong Kong.

The "Hong Kong Community Anti-epidemic Connection", a Hong Kong volunteer group, launched the "Anti-epidemic Material Support Scheme for Residential Care Homes for the Elderly" earlier, and received applications for materials from more than 250 residential homes in Hong Kong.

The group acted quickly and convened a volunteer team to help pack and deliver anti-epidemic materials to protect the health of the public.

First of all, we need to recruit volunteers. The volunteers have two aspects. The first aspect is to pack these materials. The second aspect is to find some volunteer drivers. We also have some teams to help us deliver them.

The second is that we appeal to some nursing homes for the elderly online, and if they need supplies, we will arrange for them.

In the third stage, we will help to deliver (materials), and we will arrange some teams. These teams will start from Thursday (last week) until today Sunday. In total, we have delivered almost 200 nursing homes for the elderly, about 600,000. masks, 100,000 rapid test kits, 20,000 boxes of Jinhua Qinggan granules, and some Xia Sangju.

[Explanation] On March 6, a reporter from China News Agency saw at the headquarters of the volunteer team in Kwun Tong District, Hong Kong that masks, various medicines, testing agents and other anti-epidemic materials were stored in the warehouse in an orderly manner. Many volunteers were racing against time. Disassemble and repackage anti-epidemic supplies.

We are now doing some packaging work. After packaging, we put it out and someone will send it to some elderly homes and people in need.

We have some testing agents in us, as well as Xia Sangju, as well as our masks, which are packaged and given to those in need.

In fact, seeing that they (volunteers) have been giving to help some ordinary people, some Hong Kong citizens, and some people who have money to contribute money, then we can do our best.

[Explanation] On-site volunteer coordinator Kwong Ka Lok told reporters that recently, the group has successively received anti-epidemic materials from the central government's aid to Hong Kong, including anti-epidemic drugs, masks and rapid test reagents, etc. These materials will be packaged and transported by volunteers. into the hands of those in need.

The Jinhua Qinggan Granules behind us are supported by the central government. We are very happy to receive such support, because in fact, there are more than 1,000 residential care homes for the elderly in Hong Kong. According to the SAR government, there are more than 70% of about 700 homes. There are elderly people infected in the house.

If we send these Jinhua Qinggan granules to nursing homes for the elderly, they can also relieve the symptoms of diagnosed patients.

[Explanation] It is reported that the volunteer group has completed the first round of material packaging and delivery in the afternoon, and sent about 600,000 masks and about 100,000 boxes of rapid test reagents to the "Love Team" composed of volunteer drivers. Among nearly 200 residential care homes for the elderly in the eight districts.

When I started doing this volunteer work, I saw that the central government has been sending some materials to our warehouse. After packaging, we will distribute them from house to house. In fact, we really feel the assistance of the central government.

[Explanation] After receiving the supplies, many nursing homes for the elderly said that these material aids relieved the pressure of epidemic prevention in the nursing homes, and also enhanced the staff's confidence in fighting the epidemic, which is a "timely rain" under the epidemic.

[Concurrent period] Mr. Cai, a staff member of a residential care home for the elderly

It is difficult to buy these (anti-epidemic materials) during this time. I am very grateful to the "Community Anti-epidemic Connection" for sending some of the materials that our nursing home needs most temporarily. Thank you.

[Concurrent period] Ms. Liu, staff member of the nursing home

Because we are all lacking and needing, it is considered a "timely rain".

(Received) masks and some rapid testing reagents, which are very needed and useful for our institutions, thank you.
