The police of Compiègne (Oise) have had six boxes at their disposal for two weeks allowing them to make drivers pay their fines directly by credit card, reports

Le Parisien

 on Monday.

This new system is being implemented in a growing number of French cities.

It has several advantages for both officers and offenders.

Soon in Creil and Beauvais

First, thanks to this box, the police have fewer papers to fill out to verbalize the drivers.

They also no longer have to carry cash with them.

The culprit can pay without delay, which allows some young motorists not to receive the ticket in the mailbox of their parents, the payment certificate being sent by email or SMS.

In two weeks, a dozen fines for speeding have already been paid by credit card in Compiègne.

The device should therefore continue to be offered in other cities in the coming weeks.

In the Oise, the Creil and Beauvais brigades, for example, have recently been equipped.
