In the context of the war in Ukraine, the non-governmental organization Reporters Without Borders (RSF) announces the forthcoming opening of a press freedom center in Ukraine.

It will provide a workplace and protection for journalists covering Russia's invasion of the country.

Accompany foreign journalists on the spot and protect those fleeing the war.

These two missions are those given by the non-governmental organization Reporters Without Borders (RSF) with the opening of a center for journalists present in Ukraine.

This center should open Wednesday in the city of Lviv, located in eastern Ukraine, near the border with Poland.

This press freedom center will provide a workplace and protection for journalists covering Russia's invasion of the country.

Internet connection, psychological assistance and bulletproof vests

With its local partner, the Institute for Mass Information (IMI), RSF will distribute protective equipment such as helmets and bulletproof vests, which journalists on site are increasingly short of today.

RSF announced that this place would also be a resource center for journalists seeking financial or psychological assistance.

Concretely, foreign journalists will be able to work there from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. with an Internet connection, live transmission capacity and shelter in the event of an attack.

In the press release announcing the creation of this centre, RSF Secretary General Christophe Deloire called on "international donors and press organizations to approach RSF to send the necessary funds and equipment within days to to come".
