Shortly after the Great East Japan Earthquake, 11 years ago, a photo exhibition is being held in Sendai City to remind us of the scenery of the town before it was damaged by the earthquake.

The coastal area of Sendai City has been designated as a disaster-risk area where the construction of houses is restricted after being severely damaged by the tsunami, and the construction of tourist facilities is currently underway.

A photo exhibition has been held since this month at the Sendai 3.11 Memorial Community Center in Wakabayashi Ward, Sendai City, to remind you of the scenery of the town before the earthquake.

When we solicited photos from the citizens, we received more than 2,000 photos, of which about 100 were exhibited, including photos of the town, athletic meet, local festivals, and families enjoying the sea bathing.

In addition, a message such as "I'm glad to see the road I used to go every day again" was attached to the side of the photo.

Yohei Watanabe of the Exchange Center said, "I want you to feel the different state of the town and the lives of people while looking at the pictures."

This photo exhibition will be held until June 19th, and we will accept new photos and replace the exhibition.
