Ma Fengguo, who has multiple jobs, has been very busy in recent years.

As a deputy to the National People's Congress, he reflects the voices of all walks of life in Hong Kong at the national level and seeks opportunities for cooperation between the SAR and the Mainland; as a member of the Legislative Council of the Hong Kong SAR, he promotes the formulation and implementation of relevant policies by the SAR government; To help Hong Kong people understand Chinese culture.

Ma Fengguo said in an exclusive interview with a reporter from China News Agency via video link recently that he hopes to contribute to Hong Kong and the country in different positions.

Since 2003, Ma Fengguo has served as a deputy to the National People's Congress for four consecutive sessions.

He said that the Hong Kong delegation of the National People's Congress is composed of representatives from all walks of life in the SAR. The representatives have outstanding achievements in their respective fields, and they all hope to make suggestions for the development of the country.

Economic stability is more important than high growth rate, hoping to enhance the joint epidemic prevention capabilities of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao

This year's National People's Congress, Ma Fengguo focused on the fight against the new crown epidemic and stable economic growth.

Since the laws and systems of Hong Kong, Macao and the Mainland are different, he suggested that based on long-term considerations, laws on the joint epidemic prevention and anti-epidemic of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area should be formulated at the national level to enhance the regional epidemic prevention capabilities.

In the past two years, many industries have been hit by the epidemic.

Ma Fengguo said that the national anti-epidemic measures have been well done, and the economic growth rate last year reached 8.1%.

He believes that in the long run, stable economic growth is more important than high growth rates.

Ma Fengguo is also concerned about the 2025 Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao joint National Games, and expects that the opening or closing ceremonies will be held in Hong Kong.

He believes that holding major national sports events can inspire Hong Kong society, promote social unity, and strengthen Hong Kong people's sense of nationality.

Give full play to the advantages of Hong Kong filmmakers to help mainland films enter the international market

Once owned a film company and served as the chairman of the Hong Kong Film Development Council, Ma Fengguo has witnessed the splendor and ebb of the Hong Kong film industry, and is often asked by the media about it.

He said that in recent years, many films with good box office in the Mainland have involved Hong Kong filmmakers, who have made great contributions to the development of the national film industry.

Ma Fengguo believes that as the mainland market continues to open up, Hong Kong and mainland film companies can better cooperate, and the Hong Kong film industry, which has experienced a downturn, will slowly recover.

He hopes that the epidemic will end soon, and the cooperation between Hong Kong and the mainland can be further improved.

In recent years, films such as "Changjin Lake" have been well received by audiences after their release in Hong Kong.

Ma Fengguo said that many Hong Kong citizens, especially the younger generation, do not know much about the history of the country, especially the difficulties faced in the early days of the founding of the People's Republic of China. The video will help Hong Kong people understand the history of the country.

He believes that it is not very smooth for Chinese-language films, especially mainland films, to enter the international market. There are market reasons for this, as well as cultural differences.

Hong Kong filmmakers can give full play to the advantages of being in line with international standards and help mainland films go international.

Inherit the excellent traditional Chinese culture and do two-way international exchanges

The outline of the 14th Five-Year Plan proposes to support Hong Kong in developing into a cultural and artistic exchange center between China and foreign countries.

Ma Fengguo believes that this is a great support and trust for Hong Kong.

He said that Hong Kong is a place where Eastern and Western cultures blend, and it has an open and tolerant attitude towards different cultures.

In order for Hong Kong to better play its role as a cultural and artistic exchange center between China and foreign countries, it must do a good job in inheriting the excellent traditional Chinese culture.

"By mastering the good parts of our own culture, we can communicate better with the international community."

Ma Fengguo said that Hong Kong has excellent cultural facilities, and he expects the SAR government to seize the opportunity to better play the role of "bringing in" and "going out" in cultural exchanges between China and foreign countries.
