Education and training "turn around" to find the essence of education

After undergoing a "reverse-forced" change, Chen Xiao (pseudonym), an English teacher at an education and training institution in Chongqing, found a "good" feeling.

After the implementation of "Double Reduction", Ms. Chen's institution has renovated training services and developed quality courses, such as allowing young students to contact and flexibly use English elements in scientific experiment exploration.

This change is not only welcomed by students, but Ms. Chen, a teacher, also agrees. She believes that it has changed the learning method of "dumb English" that she experienced when she was a child, which is beneficial to students.

Wang Xiaomei, deputy to the National People's Congress and vice-principal of Qingshen Middle School in Meishan City, Sichuan Province, said she was looking forward to such a "gorgeous turn".

She said the education and training industry should return to education itself.

On March 5, the fifth session of the 13th National People's Congress opened. Premier Li Keqiang of the State Council proposed in the government work report that this year, we will continue to do a good job in reducing the burden of compulsory education.

In the past six months or so, with the full implementation of the "double reduction" policy, education and training institutions across the country have undergone drastic changes.

For example, according to regulatory requirements, Ms. Chen's institution cannot carry out subject training on weekends and holidays.

For many education and training institutions, this is a necessary and painful process, and it is even a matter of "survival".

Several leaders of education and training institutions interviewed by reporters from China Youth Daily and China Youth Daily said that the industry is facing pressures such as parental refunds and employee resignations, and some institutions have closed down because of this.

Ms. Chen introduced that her institution has made timely adjustments to itself, resulting in major changes in course content and teaching methods, and the test-taking taste is much lighter.

She emphasized that this change in the institution has been approved by the education administration and complies with regulatory requirements.

She admitted that when she was a child, she learned English for exams, and she was strong in reading and weak in speaking. The previous teaching method of her institution was mainly to deal with exams.

The adjusted quality courses have an all-English learning environment, which is a good thing for students.

Wang Xiaomei said that in the past, education and training institutions played a certain role in imparting knowledge, but in order to make a profit, they often paid attention to short, flat, and fast, and ignored educating people and nurturing their hearts.

"Education is multi-faceted. It is necessary to teach children to survive, grow, fear life, love the country, care about society, etc." Wang Xiaomei said, "Since the education and training industry also belongs to the category of education, it cannot only teach knowledge from books, but also We should take responsibility for educating people.”
