On Ukraine's official twitter account @Ukraine, it is updated daily about what is happening in the country, pictures that address and joke about Russia and the ongoing conflict.

According to the British magazine The Economist, this is part of a conscious and increasingly influential media strategy on the part of Ukraine.

- Here you see Stephen King who has posted a picture where he supports Ukraine and they share this picture and write "We will manage this for your sake Stephen", says Hugo Ewald, fact editor at Dagens Nyheter.

He has followed how Russia and Ukraine use social media and he believes that Ukraine has not only developed its personal address, but that their posts have also given clear results.

Elon Musk asked for help

Last week, Ukrainian Vice President Mykhailo Deforov asked Tesla's CEO and founder Elon Musk for help with satellites, and it was not long before Musk responded.

- It is more difficult to say no to his demands when you know that millions of people see this, says Hugo Ewald.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is also said to be one of the reasons for the increased activity in social media.

The president publishes several posts and videos daily in both English and Ukrainian, where he tags international leaders, among other things.

But even before the invasion, he was one of the world's most followed heads of state with his 13.5 million followers.

"Russia has already lost"

Russia's official twitter account shows no sign of an ongoing war.

Instead, pictures and films are shared that show how beautiful the country is, but in the comment fields, new pictures of the devastation in Ukraine are constantly being shared.

- There has been talk about how skilled Russia is online propaganda.

But if you look at social media, Russia appears to be a loser, says Hugo Ewald.
