Michèle Leflon, head of the defense committee, considered that an insufficient number of caregivers could put patients at risk.

She also recalled that the situation was similar in many French cities.

Maternities in medium-sized towns are important places, said Evelyne Vander Heym, former director of the Bluets maternity ward in Paris.

The specialist expressed her pessimism about the future of the Sedan maternity hospital while pleading for the maintenance of the “site […] on a human scale”.
