Following Russia's military invasion of Ukraine, Izumisano City, Osaka Prefecture, has begun an initiative to collect support money for Ukraine through hometown tax payments.

Izumisano City, Osaka Prefecture, was once excluded from the hometown tax system because it collected a large amount of donations due to excessive gifts, but after receiving the Supreme Court's decision, it has rejoined the system.

Izumisano City started an initiative to collect support money for Ukraine through hometown tax payment at noon on the 4th.

Donations are accepted from the city's hometown tax portal site from 2000 yen or more per bit, and there are no rewards for donations, but tax incentives are available.

About 100 people have applied for it 6 hours after the start, and more than 2 million yen has already been collected.

The city will transfer the full amount to the donation account opened by the Embassy of Ukraine in Japan.

Izumisano City says, "What is happening in Ukraine is absolutely unacceptable. We will continue to consider what we can do in the future."
