[Global Times Report] On the evening of the 3rd, the "2021 Touching China" Person of the Year was announced.

Hong Kong TVB (TVB) artist Chen Beier became the person of the year who "moved China" together with 100-year-old physicist Yang Zhenning for "witnessing the country's poverty alleviation".

Hong Kong Sing Tao Daily said on the 3rd that the filming team of the documentary "Infinite Road" hosted by Chen Beier traveled through 6 provinces across the country and went deep into 10 poverty-stricken counties to understand people's livelihoods in various places.

According to the report, Chen Beier was born in Hong Kong and grew up in Vancouver. She has been living in a prosperous city and has no concept of poverty. She did not expect the hardships of going to poverty-stricken areas.

In order to film the ex-situ poverty alleviation and relocation of Cliff Village, she climbed the ladder to Cliff Village twice, with a total of more than 10,000 steps back and forth. It took more than ten hours each time, but she persisted.

When going to Nujiang to film transportation for poverty alleviation, Chen Beier, despite the danger, experienced firsthand the zipline that people used to cross the river in the past.

Regarding the doubts of the Western media, Chen Beier also has his own views.

She said that before the filming, she had seen some foreign media reports saying that the villagers were not used to the resettlement houses, and the facilities were not good. "But what I saw with my own eyes was not like this. I was really shocked, from this point of view. I can see that the country is a big hand, and the determination to get rid of poverty is very strong at all costs."

She lamented that China's poverty alleviation project was completed 10 years earlier than the United Nations. "This is because there are many unsung heroes among us."

Hong Kong media also said that after the broadcast of "Infinite Road", not only mainland audiences were full of praise, but also rave reviews in Hong Kong.

Chen Beier revealed that many Hong Kong viewers and friends left messages to her to express their feelings, because this program allowed them to understand the changes in the country.
