continues to

decline

with the accumulated incidence of 472 cases (14 points less) and 23,140 new infections detected, while hospitals are freed of Covid patients with an occupation in intensive units (9.7% ) and in the plant (4.8%) already at low risk.

The communities have reported 202 deaths to the Ministry of Health in the last day, a figure that brings the number of deaths to 13,322 so far in the sixth wave, which has lasted more than four months, and to 100,239 since the start of the

coronavirus pandemic.

Despite the evident improvement in epidemiological data, the EMA asks not to lower our guard and "caution" in the face of the decline of the wave of the omicron variant.

China develops an aspirable antibody against coronavirus and its variants

Researchers from the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) developed an aspirable antibody that can, according to the results of tests carried out on animals, offer "broad protection" against the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus and its variants, reports Efe from the state chain CGTN.

In an article published in the scientific journal

Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy

, the Chinese researchers showed how an antibody based on the receptor binding domain (RBD) of the spike protein of SARS-CoV-2

could neutralize the virus and its beta, delta and omicron variants.

In their experiments, scientists from the CAS Institute of Microbiology administered the antibody to mice through their nostrils and, later,

found no traces of the virus or damage to the lungs

, which "demonstrates that the nasal route is a effective method of preventing infection," according to the article.

The researchers also stressed that the antibody comes from egg yolk, which makes

"large-scale production"

possible thanks to "its low cost."

The scientists added that the antibody could be "an effective supplement" to existing coronavirus vaccines and a way to prevent transmission between pets and animals vulnerable to SARS-CoV-2.
