Countries competing to buy the rights to broadcast a comedy series starring the President of Ukraine!

Companies in several countries are competing to obtain the right to broadcast the series "The People's Servant", a comedy series starring the Ukrainian president, before he became president, in which he plays the role of the Ukrainian president!

Back in 2015, comedian Volodymyr Zelensky played Vasily Petrovich Goloborodko, a high school teacher who moved to the presidency after one of his students posted a video of him denouncing official corruption in Ukraine.

Goloborodko begins running the country's affairs, evading the advantages of being a leader by maintaining his ordinary life.

The series was a huge success in Ukraine, where it ran for three seasons, and interest has reached its peak since the country was attacked by Russia.

Channel 4 has announced that it has the rights to broadcast the series in the UK, and plans to air an episode on Sunday.

Broadcasting rights holder Eco Rights has reported deals with TV channels in the Middle East, Greece and Romania, as well as radio stations in Bulgaria, Moldova, Estonia, France, Finland and Georgia.

EcoRights donated 50,000 euros to the Ukrainian Red Cross, and the company has removed any Russian or Russian-produced TV shows from its programmes.

According to "Sky News Arabia", the series won the Best Feature Series Award at the Tele Triumph Awards in Ukraine, as well as the Gold Remy Award for TV Comedy in 2016 at the World Fest in Houston.
