The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology treats high school students as absent if they participate in the lay judge as a lay judge, as high school students may be selected as lay judges from next year due to the reduction of the adult age from April. I showed a policy to prevent it.

With the revision of the Civil Code and the Juvenile Law, which will reduce the adult age to 18 years old from April, the age of being selected as a lay judge will be 18 years or older, and high school students may be selected as lay judges from next year.

In response to this, a person in charge of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology announced at the House of Representatives Committee on Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology on the 2nd that if a high school student participates in the trial as a lay judge, he will not be treated as absent.

He added, "Even if you attend the trial, you will need to take necessary measures, such as providing thorough supplementary lessons so that your learning will not be delayed."

The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology will notify the Board of Education and others of these contents by the end of this month to inform high schools.
