After a long tour throughout France, the Grand Ballet de Kiev is giving its last performance this Wednesday evening.

But the invasion of Russia in Ukraine came to disturb the troupe of dancers.

The return of the ballet to Kiev, as well as their presence on stage seems uncertain, according to the producer of the show in France Philippe Montabrut.

Dancers who don't know what to do next.

With a total of 48 performances in France and a tour throughout the country, the Grand Ballet de Kiev bows out this Wednesday evening at La Teste de Buch, near Arcachon.

Their return to the Ukrainian capital, in the grip of Russian bombardments, is compromised and concern grows within the troop.

"It's quite dramatic what is happening. I am with them every day to support them, assures Philippe Montabrut, the producer of the show in France. They currently have their families there and remain in regular contact. with them via the Internet. Everyone is fine so they are reassured on that side."

A wave of solidarity from the public

According to the producer, the shift was felt last week, some time after the Russian offensive.

In recent days, a surge of solidarity from the public has been created at the end of the performances.

In Colmar on Sunday, spectators came to see the artists to hear from them.

Some even offered to host them.

Once their tour was over, the dancers of Le Grand Ballet had to fly home, but with the airspace closed, they had to change their organization.

"We will take them by bus to Poland because their main concern is to return as quickly as possible. I have connections in Poland, associations will take care of certain dancers. Others will return to Ukraine", explains Philippe Montabrut.

Departure will take place the day after the last performance.

In France, the government and associations are mobilizing to help Ukrainian refugees and their families.
