The Tsing Yi Fangcang shelter hospital in Hong Kong aided by the central government was officially completed on February 28 after a race against time for about a week.

It is reported that this is the first completed centrally-aided Hong Kong makeshift hospital project since Hong Kong fought the fifth wave of the new crown pneumonia epidemic, and it can provide more than 3,900 isolation beds when fully put into use.

Tsing Yi Fangcai Hospital is composed of modular box houses, each room is equipped with basic furniture and bedding, air conditioners, smoke detectors, fire extinguishers and other facilities.

According to the design and builder China State Construction International Group, the total number of people entering the Tsing Yi Fangcang shelter hospital construction project is more than 1,800, including about 300 mainland employees and more than 1,500 Hong Kong workers.

It is understood that at present, five temporary community isolation and treatment facilities (fangcang shelter hospitals) in the former Santian Shopping City, Yuen Long Tamwei, Hung Shui Bridge, Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Hong Kong Port, and Fanling have all completed the site leveling work. Progressing well.

Projects for two permanent community isolation treatment facilities at Penny's Bay and Kai Tak are also ongoing.
