• Pussy Riot "Europe's inaction in Russia is paid for with human lives"

Kalush:

Stefania.

The song that will represent Ukraine in Eurovision kicks off a special edition of this current music playlist, today dedicated entirely to songs from the country attacked by the Russian regime of Putin.

Kalush is a painterly rap group who combine nostalgic 'trip-hop' electronica with folklore in this crowd-favorite hit tune.

In their own way, they are like our Tanxugueiras.

Okean Elzy:

Bez tebe.

The Lviv quintet is one of the oldest and most emblematic rock groups in the country, with almost 30 years of experience and still very popular.

This is one of his most recent songs, with funky guitar and a happy rhythm that invites you to dance.

Tvorchi:

Bonfire

.

In Ukrainian, 'tvorchi' means creative, and that is the general approach applied by this duo formed at the University of Ternopil to their original music.

His is a cool dance-pop, up to date with international trends, to dance with sunglasses.

Julia Bondar:

Fire.

In such dark times, the gloomy electronic music of this Ukrainian producer and singer who has lived in Barcelona for years sounds prescient.

On her synth dumps she blends techno with industrial sounds, '90s electro and an edgy attitude.

5'NIZZA:

Soldat

.

Another of the most popular current groups in Ukraine, a duo whose anti-war anthem to the rhythm of ska entitled 'Soldado' is unavoidable.

Dakh Daughters:

Rozy

.

The fantastic girl group from Kiev offers a very theatrical interpretation of a modern song, so intense that it borders on punk.

Like a wild Central European cabaret, they spin the songs like dynamos about to get off their axis.

Panivalkova:

Let Me.

Another all-female group from Kiev, a trio with an acoustic sound and great interpretive intensity.

Their sound revolved around piano and percussion, but the soul of their songs was highly original indie pop.

It's a shame they split up a couple of years ago.

Boombox:

Empires Will Fall.

For rock fans with power, and with a message, this successful ensemble from the capital is a must.

Electric guitars like axes and choruses to chant with your fist raised.

Onuka:

Xashi

.

As a very quick introduction, it could be said that she is the Björk of the Ukraine, although her music tends to be more effusive and nervous.

With a sound arc that goes from folk to 'chillwave', one thing is certain in her songs: they always surprise.

Druh Rika:

Secret

.

The most British (and emo) sounding group from Ukraine offers epic and modern pop-rock in long instrumental progressions.
