We often have a very austere image of classical dance.
Especially when the artists perform on the most prestigious stages in the world, such as those of the Paris Opera.
We say to ourselves that this universe of excellence, artistic and aesthetic, must be formal, conservative, folded in on itself, that it responds to very precise codes, impossible to change, cemented by the law of brass of silence.
Here is a book that clears up many received ideas and blasts clichés.
A book often engaged even militant, without language of wood.
It finally allows you to realize that this world, which seems so inaccessible, is neither a fairy tale nor a horror film, but that it is basically the image of society.
This book, full of questions and humility, is the work of a star dancer:
Germain Louvet
.
"
Things that dance
", by Germain Louvet is published by Fayard editions.
Report :
Last weekend was very danceable in Côte d'Ivoire, thanks to the Grands Ateliers de la Danse.
For this second edition, the event was held by the sea, in Mondoukou, near Grand-Bassam.
A festival directed by the Ivorian choreographer Jean-Paul Méhansio, which aims to open the public to the art of dance in all its facets.
But the dancer's main ambition is to promote the traditional customs of his country.
In Abidjan, our correspondent
Sidy Yansané.
