In our Minute Papillon

podcast  !

, we talk about recognition at work on this world compliment day.

Its initiators - Dutch - wanted to make it "the most positive day of the year" by encouraging people to congratulate each other.

And in business?

What are the perceptions of the recognition of the person and the work?

The survey "Recognition at work: what place and what importance?"

» carried out online for the My Happy Job by Moodwork media, by the Moodwork research department with 1,146 employees in January 2022, reveals several lessons.

Recognition mainly provides, for the person who receives it, motivation (41%), satisfaction (28%) and pride (26%), according to the participants.

A result nuanced by one of our appeals to readers.

Companies not grateful enough to their employees?

While nearly 6 in 10 respondents (58%) believe they receive recognition from their colleagues, only one in 4 respondents (26%) say they receive recognition from their company.

This result is out of step with the perception that the respondents have of their actions, because a large majority of respondents feel that they show gratitude towards others.

Thus, 8 out of 10 respondents claim to declare their gratitude (81%) towards their colleagues, a figure which reaches 90% among managers, against 76% among non-managers, and 69% towards their superiors.

Regarding the different forms of recognition, just over 6 in 10 respondents (65%) believe they receive person-centered recognition, while nearly 4 in 10 respondents (37%) say they receive practice-centered recognition work.

Finally, a third of respondents (33%) say they receive recognition for their results, their successes and the achievement of objectives.

Why is the perception of received and given recognition so different?

To analyze these results and understand the springs of perceptions on recognition at work, two speakers in this episode: Fabienne Broucaret, journalist and author, founder of My Happy Job, a media dedicated to quality at work.

And Clément Poirier, doctor in psychology and head of the Moodwork research center, a Web and mobile application to support employees on mental health.
