The municipalities of Pont-Sainte-Maxence and Beaurepaire (Oise) have been deprived of drinking water since Friday due to contamination of a treatment station, reports Le Parisien.

This Monday, February 28, 61,000 L of bottled water had already been distributed at the expense of the operator Suez.

To ensure the delivery of the bottles, the Pont-Sainte-Maxence gymnasium acts as a logistics center.

Water also unfit for animal consumption

However, the bottle distributions are not enough to cover the needs of local farms, as the water has also been declared unfit for animal consumption.

A dairy farm in Beaurepaire had to improvise by using natural water points to water the 240 cows.

The Institution Saint-Joseph-du-Moncel, which welcomes 1,500 students, has also had to adapt.

Bottles have thus been delivered to ensure hydration for the students but also for the establishment's canteen, which delivers 700 to 800 meals every day for the canteens of seven municipalities.

New water analyzes are to be carried out this Tuesday evening to determine whether the water can be consumed again.
