The President of the Republic of Georgia, Salomé Zourabichvili, affirms on France 24 that her country has not given up recovering the 20% of its territory (Abkhazia and South Ossetia) taken by Russia from Vladimir Putin in 2008. But Tbilisi cannot achieve this militarily because "the unequal balance of power" could lead to "an even greater Russian occupation".

The Georgian head of state assures that her country has in no way "changed direction" and continues "to move forward towards its integration into the EU and NATO".

Salomé Zurabishvili hails the "European leap" in the face of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

According to her, it constitutes proof that Europe, which for "too long" believed itself out of reach, is also concerned by the aims of the Kremlin.

"We are all threatened," she says.
