After a car fell into the Rhine at Weseler Hafen, three young people are missing.

Rescue workers start a new rescue attempt on Tuesday morning.

"But with the strong current, we don't know where the car was driven off to," said a police spokesman on Tuesday.

"The salvage will be difficult."

The car, apparently with five occupants, fell into the river in North Rhine-Westphalia at around 7:15 p.m. on Monday evening.

A seventeen-year-old and a twenty-year-old were able to save themselves in the accident.

They came to a hospital.

There was initially no further information on the cause and course of the accident.

The shore at the accident site is freely accessible and not secured.

In the evening, the fire brigade, the water police and the police were deployed to rescue the casualties.

A helicopter equipped with an infrared camera was also requested.

The search was unsuccessful in the evening.
