The administrative court rejected on Thursday an operating permit granted in October 2019 by the prefect of Aube.

The permit issued to SARL Jean Poirier concerned the establishment in Ville-sous-la-Ferté (Aube) of a road asphalt plant.

The project had caused several associations for the preservation of the environment to jump, says Reporterre.

Satisfaction for activists

Friends of the Earth and Preserve the Clairvaux Valley had thus challenged the authorization in court in March 2020. They therefore won their case at first instance.

The president of the court took his decision "without possible challenge or a single line disapproving of our action", welcomed Patrick Lorne, member of Preserve the Clairvaux Valley.

Justice has notably highlighted the danger of hydrocarbon pollution that the hot asphalt plant would create.

"Smelling odors of tar" of a magnitude difficult to assess were also mentioned.

The project planned to place the factory 600 m from the nearest dwellings.
