China to PCR all international mail, including its contents

The state postal company China Post will subject all

letters and packages arriving from abroad

to PCR tests to reduce the risk of covid-19 infections and after health authorities attributed

recent outbreaks to contact with international mail

.

Through a statement on its social networks, China Post described the measure as an "additional barrier" to prevent the transmission of SARS-CoV-2 through

contact with contaminated objects.

An official of China Post in Inner Mongolia (north) told state television CCTV that the mail would be

delivered 14 to 20 hours after obtaining a negative result

in the PCR test.

"After disinfection and isolation for 24 hours, we will open the packages and test their content with the consent of the recipient (of the mail)," the official explained.

China, which maintains a severe policy of "zero tolerance" to covid-19 and its borders practically closed, has attributed some of the outbreaks in recent weeks to contact with packages from abroad.

The first detected case of the

omicron variant in Beijing

was due, according to the country's health authorities, to contact with

a shipment from Canada

and triggered caution towards international mail and recommendations to avoid or reduce its reception in the case of countries with a high number of infections.

Headache during Covid can lead to a chronic daily headache, according to a study

Covid

patients

with no previous history of headache suffered from a headache for at least two weeks and in some it became a persistent complaint.

Members of the Headache Study Group of the Spanish Society of Neurology (SEN) have focused a study on the consequences of headache as a symptom of the

coronavirus

.

After analyzing more than 900 Spanish patients with

Covid-19

who suffered migraines during the course of this disease, they were able to determine that about 20% of those who presented a headache during the acute phase of the coronavirus developed a chronic daily headache.

This is one of the conclusions reached by the SEN expert group, although it has not been the only one.

The results of the research, published in the journal

Cephalalgia

, an official publication of the International Headache Society, suggest that in cases where the headache persists after two months of having overcome

Covid

, it is likely that it will remain present over time.

And also that, when the headache persists for a month, there is a 50% chance that it will continue for at least nine months afterwards, mainly in older people and, more frequently, in women.
